South Bay Youth Project

The South Bay Youth Project (SBYP) is a referral-based program that offers short-term counseling support to youth on site, at more than 50 public schools throughout Torrance, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach and El Segundo, and through various community partnerships throughout the South Bay, including allcove Beach Cities.

Services through the South Bay Youth Project are available regardless of insurance status and aim to:

  • Ensure that students have convenient access to mental health support where they can learn and grow.
  • Provide immediate counseling for emerging mental health concerns.
  • Offer guidance and support in navigating emotional challenges.
  • Connect youth and their families with appropriate long-term mental health resources in the community.

How to Refer:

  • School-based: If you have a child or teen who attends a public school in Torrance, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, or El Segundo, please reach out to their school’s counselor or principal for a direct referral to our program.
  • Community Partnership: If child or teen does not attend a school that we currently support, they are eligible to receive services on-site through allcove Beach Cities Health District if they are between the ages of 12-25.

Wilderness Program

Our unique Wilderness Program, part of the South Bay Youth Project, is a spring leadership initiative specifically designed for students attending Patricia Dreizler Continuation School. This program culminates in an outdoor adventure experience aimed at:
  • Building resilience and coping skills.
  • Provide immediate counseling for emerging mental health concerns.
  • Offer guidance and support in navigating emotional challenges.
  • Connect youth and their families with appropriate long-term mental health resources in the community.
